Fees & Legalese

Session fees:

Standard individual 50 min session: $180

Group therapy 90 min session: $65

Sliding-scale rates: vary

I offer lower rates to individuals of marginalized populations who need financial assistance, and to other licensed mental health clinicians as a professional courtesy. I reserve a limited number of appointments for other clients requesting a sliding scale rate.

Insurance policy:

As of 2026, I do not accept any insurance for payment of services. All fees are privately paid by clients through IVY Pay, check, or cash. I can provide consolidated receipts of services (aka “superbills”) that may enable clients to use their Out Of Network benefits. Reimbursement rates, if any, are determined by your insurance provider.

There’s LITERALLY no better time to get mental health support than the present. Start here.

But wait! There’s more! Fine print you’ll find in my paperwork:

A 24-hour cancelation policy is a part of my practice agreements, and you will be billed or charged appropriately in these circumstances. Sessions start and end on time, and there are no reimbursements or deductions for late comers or shortened sessions. If a client is more than 15 minutes late without reasonable communication, it is considered a “late cancelation” and you will be charged for the full session.

Good Faith Estimates

You have the right to receive a “Good Faith Estimate” explaining how much your medical care will cost. Under the law, health care providers need to give patients who don’t have insurance or who are not using insurance an estimate of the bill for medical items and services, including psychotherapy. FYI: This estimate // price of services // is provided 1) verbally during our first consultation, 2) in the client agreement paperwork, and 3) via text when you are charged for your first session.

Things to know about this law:

• You have the right to receive a Good Faith Estimate for the total expected cost of any non-emergency items or services. This includes psychotherapy.

• Make sure your health care provider gives you a Good Faith Estimate in writing at least 1 business day before your therapy session. You can also ask your health care provider (therapist) and any other provider you choose for a Good Faith Estimate before you schedule therapy services.

• If you receive a bill that is at least $400 more than your Good Faith Estimate, you can dispute the bill (example: I charge you $500 per session, when we agreed your fee per session was $100).

• Make sure to save a copy or picture of your Good Faith Estimate. For questions or more information about your right to a Good Faith Estimate, visit http://www.cms.gov/nosurprises or email Amy at AmySerafinCounseling@gmail.com.

Rights to records and complaints

Clients may request their health care records from me, the therapist, at any point. Clients have the right to contact the disciplinary / licensing authority (the Texas Behavioral Health Executive Council) if there are every any concerns about my ethics and practices. Anyone may file a consumer complaint or get more information on this topic at: https://bhec.texas.gov/discipline-and-complaints/.

This concludes the legalese portion of my website. Now let’s get started.
