Starting therapy doesn’t need to be complicated. Here’s what you need to know.
| 1 | Call or email to schedule a free consultation. Let’s see if I’m a good therapeutic fit for you! |
| 2 | Therapy will be set at your own pace. Individual appointments are 50 minutes; groups are 90 minutes. Some come for a few months, most come for years; there’s no minimum or limit. You end when you need to end. |
| 3 | When you prioritize your mental health with me, you will feel more grounded and secure, be able to engage with the significant people in your life in more fulfilling ways, and tolerate stress with greater ease. |
Do you offer in-person counseling?
Yes! I have an office in Downtown Round Rock, north of Austin (Texas). I also provide therapy via telehealth, through a secure HIPAA compliant video platform called Therapy Appointment. My business is based in Texas, but I am also licensed in Minnesota, and can see clients from anywhere in these two states. My typical work hours are Tuesday-Friday, 10am-5pm.
How often will we meet?
I often meet with clients on a weekly basis to create and maintain a strong therapeutic alliance and give you a consistent level of support. For some people, bi-monthly sessions are more economical or therapeutically appropriate. More infrequent sessions are usually ineffective in meeting your therapy goals.
Do you take insurance?
For the time being, I am only accepting Aenta and BCBS of Massachusetts, through a platform called Headway. When using your insurance, you should be aware that I will be required to provide a “diagnosis” to your carrier. You should also know that I do not look at my clients as a “diagnosis;” unfortunately labels can still carry stigma and insurance providers can exasperate that. Talk to me if receiving a diagnosis makes you uncomfortable. You have the choice to pay privately or “out of pocket” to avoid having your insurance know your specific symptoms.
Can you provide me with a “Superbill” (like an invoice) so I can claim out-of-network benefits with my insurance, and possibly receive reimbursement?
Yes! If I do not accept your insurance or you’d like to pay out of pocket, I can provide this documentation for you to submit to your insurance on your own. Reimbursements are at your insurance provider’s discretion. I’d be happy to help you navigate the system to see if/how you can get reimbursed. You can also use a health savings account/fund for services. Please note that to get reimbursed, you will also be asked to provide a diagnosis to your insurance.
Do you provide consultations over the phone?
Yes, I would love the chance to speak with you before scheduling an appointment to make sure I am a good fit for your needs. (Actually it is required.) I can also offer video consultations upon request. Service consultations are free and brief, about 15 minutes.
Do you offer a sliding scale or reduced fee?
Yes! I reserve a limited number of sliding scale spots for clients with financial need. I am unable to provide a sliding scale fee to clients who meet with me less than once a week on a consistent basis. Reduced fees are offered for those who identify as BBIPOC, gender non-conforming, or are in the mental health field.
